Enhancing Electric Guitar Leaf Springs with Stainless Steel
The Challenge
A guitar manufacturer from America came to us a few years back looking for carbon steel for manufacturing leaf springs for his electric guitars. He had a complaint that the carbon steel was not working out for him and would require frequent replacements due to rust build up. This was resulting in a lot of wastage and extra material consumption, resulting in him purchasing 2mt every year even though it is an extremely miniature part.
The Solution
Instead of just supplying him the required carbon steel material and completing a simple transaction, we tried to analyse the situation here. His part just required simple spring action to perform properly, so we suggested him an alternate stainless steel grade wherein the price was definitely quite high (almost 3 times the price of carbon steel) but it did wonders in his application.
Results
The life of the part has increased multi-folds and will probably last for decades now, eliminating the frequent replacements and excessive material consumption.
